Delete a Web Part in a page

In certain scenarios you may want to remove a given Web Part from your SharePoint page due to it not being relevant or simply as a way to restructure your infrastructure. This article will elaborate on how you can delete unused pieces on both Classic and Modern SharePoint. 

Note: It is important to note that several BindTuning Web Parts connect to SharePoint lists. This being the case, when removing the web part from the page you're not compromising the associated list, making sure you're able to re-connect that same source if in need of re-adding the product.

Modern SharePoint

To delete Web Parts from your Modern SharePoint site and/or page, follow the instructions below: 

1. Access your SharePoint page; 
2. On the ribbon, select Edit; 
3. Navigate to the Web Part you wish to remove; 
4. Select the Web Part and click on the Trash icon.

Classic SharePoint

Single deletion

To delete a single Web Part from your Classic SharePoint site and/or page, follow the instructions below: 

1. Access your SharePoint page; 
2. On the ribbon, select Edit; 
3. Navigate to the Web Part you wish to remove; 
4. Click on the arrow, followed by Delete.

Multiple deletions

To delete several Web Parts from your Classic SharePoint site and/or page, follow the instructions below:

Before deleting a web part on a page, it is important to give it a name different from the default one, since you may maintain some Web Parts in the page. This can be defined in Web Part Properties, it appears when you click on the cogwheel, in the BindTuning Web Part menu, on Chrome Appearance section. When you finish it, please click on Save button.

At first, it is required to have the page checked out. Please click on Page tab and then on Check Out:

Then, add ?contents=1 at the end of the page URL and press Enter to navigate to the new URL. See the example below:

You will see another page where all the web parts from the previous page are listed. It is important to give different names to all Web Parts, since here they are discriminated using those names. Select the web parts you wish to delete (on the respective checkbox) and click on Delete.
