Setup your APP Web Part

On this guide, we'll review the steps to install/uninstall for the BindTuning Web Part. This process is applied to all the BindTuning Web Part using the APP.

Requirements

  • SharePoint 2013/2016 with App Store or SharePoint Online with App Catalog.
  • Site Collection Administration rights.
  • An active BindTuning Web Parts subscription or trial.

Downloading/Update Web Part on BindTuning

  1. Login on your BindTuning account at BindTuning;
  2. Mouse over the gravatar and select the My Downloads;
  3. Select the Web Part tab;
  4. Mouse over the desired Web Part and View webpart details. If an update is available will show the blue pulsing icon and proceed as follows, otherwise move to step 5;
    • Click the Update to version X.X.X.X button to get the latest Web Part files.
  5. Click to Download the Web Part.

Download the APP

The .Zip will contain 3 different packaging options, both following Microsoft Add-In guidelines:

  • For Classic Experience:
    • APP: for tenants with a configured APP Catalog or APP store.
    • WSP: SandBox solution (recomended).
  • For Modern Experience:

Install the APP

Install on APP Catalog

per SharePoint instance

The steps in this section need to be done only once per SharePoint instance by a global SharePoint Administrator. After this initial installation, the web parts will become available for installation in each site collection. 

  1. Login on your SharePoint with an administrator account and select Admin;
  2. Open the SharePoint admin center;
  3. Select Apps > App Catalog;
  4. Open the Apps for SharePoint library;
  5. Click to Upload the app file into the library;
  6. You may be prompted to replace the existing file on the library if so, Click yes.

Install the Web Part

per Site Collection

To install the web part on multiple site collections, simply repeat the following steps on each.

  1. Go to Add an APP on your site collection;
  2. Search for BT an click on the Bt**** Add-in to install the desired Web Part
  3. Click on Trust It to allow the Web Part files to be available for your SharePoint tenant;
  4. The page will reload on your Site Content and the APP will be installing;
  5. Once the install of the APP is completed, click on the app;
  6. Select Install Add-in;
  7. The selected Web Part is now installed on your Site Collection.

Uninstall APP

per SharePoint instance

  1. Login on your SharePoint with an administrator account and select Admin;
  2. Open the SharePoint admin center;
  3. Select Apps > App Catalog;
  4. Open the Apps for SharePoint library;
  5. Select the BT**** Add-In to be deleted, click on the ribbon Files;
  6. Click to Delete Document.

per Site Collection

To uninstall the web part on multiple site collections, simply repeat the following steps on each.

  1. Go to Site Contents on your site collection
  2. Press the ellipsis button on the app and select Remove
  3. The selected Web Part is now being removed from your Site Collection.

Update the APP

Update to the app catalog

per SharePoint instance

The steps in this section need to be done only once per SharePoint instance by a global SharePoint Administrator. After this initial installation, the web parts will become available for installation in each site collection. 

  1. Login on your SharePoint with an administrator account and select Admin;
  2. Open the SharePoint admin center;
  3. Select Apps > App Catalog;
  4. Open the Apps for SharePoint library;
  5. Click to Upload the app file into the library;
  6. You may be prompted to replace the existing file on the library if so, Click yes.

Update the Web Part

per Site Collection

To update the web part on multiple site collections, simply repeat the following steps on each.

  1. Go to Site Contents on your Site Collection;
  2. Press the ellipsis button on the app and select About;
  3. You will see a new version available. Click on Get It button;
  4. Click on Trust It and wait for the app to finish updating;
  5. Once the update is complete, click on the APP and click on Update Available;
  6. The page will begin to install a new version of the web part into your Site Collection.

Note: The browsers use caching mechanisms and it's possible that to verify the updated Web Part on the page you may need to do a CRTL + F5.
