How to remove unwanted master pages

Office365 SP2013 SP2013 Foundation

Do you want to remove unwanted master pages from your website? Here is how you can do it: 

Info: SharePoint Designer is required in order to accomplish the steps described in this article. If you need to download it please follow this link
Important: Before removing the master page be sure its no longer in use.

For Office365 v2013 and SP21013 SandBox Solution

  1. Open your site with SharePoint Designer;
  2. Go to All Files > _catalogs > masterpage > "THEMENAME";
  3. Click with the right mouse button and click Delete (eg Home.master);

  4. The master pages will no longer appear on the Master Page Settings for selection.

For SP21013 Farm Solution

  1. Open your site with SharePoint Designer;
  2. Go to All Files > _catalogs > masterpage;
  3. Click with the right mouse button and click Delete (eg Home.master);
  4. The master pages will no longer appear on the Master Page Settings for selection.
